A knitwear guide for slow fashion lovers.

One of the many upsides of cold weather season (not that there are really that many upsides, but I'm trying to be positive like Buddha here, so stick with me) is the fact that you can walk around in very soft, comfy, warm and cosy knits for days. Should you still be on the lookout for some pretty and sustainable options to add to your collection, then it is your lucky day pals! Because I assembled a selection of the loveliest cardigans, pullovers and turtlenecks.

Number 1 and 8 are by a great Belgian brand called LNKnits. This knitwear label provides a steady job and honest wages for 300 Peruvian women. All their products are handmade from the finest quality of baby alpaca wool.

No. 2, 4 and 7 are from what must be my most lusted after brand when it comes to knits: Howlin'. I simply can't decide on which sweater to buy from their gorgeous collection, though lately I've been strongly gravitating towards that gorgeous fluffy black knit. It's also a Belgian brand, which produces partly in Belgium and mostly in Scotland and Ireland. They don't specifically claim to be ecological or ethical, but the fact that they produce locally, with attention for tradition and craftmenship, already makes them stand out in my eyes.

The grey turtleneck (3) and pink kimono cardigan (5) are both by Armed Angels, one of the biggest organic & fair fashion labels in Europe. It is a German brand that only uses sustainable materials such as organic cotton, organic linen, organic wool and recycled polyester. With the help of the Fair Wear Foundation and Fairtrade, they strive to provide fair working conditions for every single person who is involved in the long production line of their cloting.

Number 6 is by Reformation - by far the most fashionable sustainable brand I've encountered so far. You can find out more about them in my Sustainable shopping guide pt. 1.

Oh and PS, the chunky knit I'm wearing in the first pic is a Dries Van Noten sample I scored a few years ago at a stock & sample sale. Such a find!
